Across The Universe – #20

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind,
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
That call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they
Tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

Sounds of laughter shades of earth are ringing
Through my open views inviting and inciting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a
Million suns, it calls me on and on
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world,
Nothing’s gonna change my world.

It’s been far too long since I’ve done any pieces. We were on a spring vacation trip to Arizona, and last week was kind of spent getting back into the swing of things. I did talk to an artist in a gallery when I was in Tucson, who does very similar work to mine. I got some good info about printers from him. The good thing is I am still ahead of schedule, so I didn’t get behind. I technically should be on my 14th piece this week, and this is number 20. Last night on American Idol Siobhan Magnus sang “Across The Universe” (not the greatest rendition I’ve heard, but it’s hard to beat the original….Fionna Apple did a great version) by The Beatles, so I decided that would be a good song to do.

In his 1970 interview with Rolling Stone, Lennon referred to the song as perhaps the best, most poetic lyric he ever wrote. He also expressed pride in the metre of the main verses, commenting on how unique it was to his compositions and how he could not duplicate it.
