Old Fashioned Love Song – #42

Just an old fashioned love song
Playing on the radio
And wrapped around the music
Is the sound of someone promising they’ll never go

You swear you’ve heard it before
As it slowly rambles on
No need in bringin’ ‘em back
‘Cause they’re never really gone

Just an old fashioned love song
One I’m sure they wrote for you and me
Just an old fashioned love song
Comin’ down in three-part harmony

To weave our dreams upon and listen
To each evenin’ when the lights are low
To underscore our love affair
With tenderness and feeling that we’ve come to know

You swear you’ve heard it before
As it slowly rambles on
No need in bringin’ ‘em back
‘Cause they’re never really gone

Just an old fashioned love song
Comin’ down in three-part harmony
Just an old fashioned love song
One I’m sure they wrote for you and me

To weave our dreams upon and listen to the song

Just an old song comin’ down
Just an old song
One I’m sure they wrote for you and me
Just an old song comin’ down
Just an old song
One I’m sure they wrote for you and me

This week’s Illustration Friday topic is Old-Fashioned, and it made me think of Old Fashioned Love Song, by Three Dog Night.

This song reminds me of when I was very young, travelling to my grandma’s house in Iowa via the rural highways in Illinois along the Mississippi River at night in my mom’s Buick Opel. I remember watching the lights of the radio and the blue light of the hi-beam indicator on the dashboard. Isn’t it funny how some seemily ordinary memories can stick with you forever? I probably was about three or four years old I’m guessing.
